About company

Most AI in the workplace stops at the answer. It tells an employee what the leave policy says, then hands them a form and wishes them luck. Cascade AI was built to finish the job.

Based in Bellevue, Washington and founded by two ex-Microsoft engineers, Cascade runs agentic workflow automation for IT and HR shared services. Its agents interpret policy, verify identity, and execute work across systems of record. Enterprises including Abbott, Boomi, Veeam, Rentokil Terminix, and OneOncology run Cascade across organizations of 1,000 to 100,000+ employees, in 90+ countries.

Use Case

An agent that only reads is a chatbot with a confident tone. For Cascade's agents to log a time-off request, correct a timesheet, or provision a new hire, they need to write back into the customer's HRIS and payroll system, not just query it.

That meant breadth coming in and precision going back out: employment and location data to establish who someone is and what they're eligible for, benefits data down to the dependent to answer a plan question for their whole family, then writes on Employee, Time Off, and Timesheet Entry to act on the answer. Every enterprise customer arrived with a different system behind all of it.

Problem

The integration layer behind a two-week deployment promise

Cascade sells enterprises a launch measured in weeks, not quarters, with no custom engineering on the customer's side. That promise lives or dies at the HRIS.

The requirements were specific:

  • Read and write access to employee, time, and benefits data, not read-only
  • Benefits coverage down to the dependent, not just the employee's own plan
  • Consistent field names across every customer's system
  • Reliable daily syncs at six-figure employee volumes
  • New connectors available at the speed enterprise deals close

Integration Hurdles: Every enterprise prospect brought its own HRIS and payroll stack. Building a connector per system would have put Cascade's engineers in the integration business instead of the agent business, and each one built in-house is weeks of senior engineering time before it returns anything.

Reliability at Enterprise Scale: Cascade started out on Finch. As deployments grew past 100,000 employees, the cost of a missed sync changed shape. A stale record doesn't just produce a wrong answer, it produces a wrong action written back into the system of record.

Solution

How Bindbee gave Cascade's agents the data to answer and the access to act

Cascade moved from Finch to Bindbee and consolidated its HRIS, payroll, and benefits connectivity behind a single Unified API covering 67+ systems. Twelve data models now run through that one connection.

Write access where agents actually act: Bindbee supports writes on Employee, Time Off, and Timesheet Entry. This is what lets a Cascade agent provision a new hire, file a leave request, or correct a timesheet and update the system of record, rather than drafting a message for a human to retype.

Benefits depth, down to the dependent: Benefit, Employer Benefit, and Dependent Benefit are the deepest part of Bindbee's data layer. When an employee asks whether their spouse is covered, Cascade's agent answers from that employee's real elections, not a policy document.

The eligibility context behind every answer: Employment, Company, Location, Pay Group, Payroll Code, and Time Off Balance come back through one schema, with field names normalized across systems. Eligibility depends on role, location, and pay group, so Cascade's team builds agent logic once instead of per-customer. As they put it on G2, Bindbee "makes standardizing the field names that come back easier."

Responsive support: Cascade's engineers rated Bindbee's support 5/5, noting they're "always quick to respond" and open to product feedback.

Outcome

Reliability at 125,000+ employees a day

Migrating off Finch gave Cascade back the two things a fast-scaling platform can't buy: engineering time and confidence in the data. The team stopped maintaining connector types and went back to building agents, and the integration layer stopped deciding how fast a new enterprise customer could go live.

  • 125,000+ employee records synced daily through a single employer connector
  • Twelve data models live, spanning benefits, employment, pay, and time
  • Write access on Employee, Time Off, and Timesheet Entry
  • Engineering time redirected from connector maintenance to agent development

Cascade's agents are only as good as the systems they can reach. Bindbee makes sure they can reach all of them.
